A source for the claim
Official land managers and government services come first. Named field experts and recent moderated reports add context where no authority publishes the detail.
Editorial method
Hiking Mauritius exists to help someone make a sound decision before they reach the trail. That makes source quality, uncertainty and accountable corrections part of the experience.
Six commitments
These rules apply to trail pages, map pins, future condition reports and every translated edition.
Official land managers and government services come first. Named field experts and recent moderated reports add context where no authority publishes the detail.
Approximate coordinates, unverified approaches and changing access are labelled. We do not polish uncertainty out of the page.
Every source records when it was checked. Field checks and official-source checks are separate dates because they answer different questions.
We separate physical effort, technical movement, navigation, exposure and water risk, then explain the decision in plain language.
AI may compare documents, structure notes and prepare translation drafts. It cannot invent access, geometry, status, distance or a safety conclusion.
The site shares ownership with Yanature. A future widget or affiliate link will be labelled and kept separate from trail facts and ratings.
Status language
A current authority or land manager states that normal access is available.
Permission, hours, fees, a route boundary or another condition limits access.
A current authoritative notice says not to enter.
We do not have enough current evidence to state that access is open.
Correction channel
The public correction route is not open yet. It will be added after a named owner, response process and change log are approved. Until then, we will not advertise an inbox that nobody is accountable for reviewing.
Ownership and affiliate policy
Hiking Mauritius is owned by the team behind Yanature, which operates at trekkingmauritius.com on a separate WordPress platform. This site is not a booking website. If a guide or activity widget is introduced later, it will be clearly marked as commercial, link to the external Yanature service and never alter our access facts, difficulty ratings or editorial conclusions.
